Site Specifications

This Web site was built by hand using Chami's HTML-Kit and Adobe Photoshop 5.5. The markup used to present the content is purely XHTML with CSS used for design and layout.

What does this mean? Well, from a technological standpoint, the site's content has been separated from the presentation, making the data available for display on a wider variety of devices. In newer browsers, style sheets present the data as the author wished while allowing the content of the page (the text, images, links) to be accessible to almost all browser devices that display HTML documents.

In more practical terms, all browsers may view the content of saturdave.com, but only newer browsers will see it as the author intended. So what happens if you are using an older browser like Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.X (WIN) or Netscape 4.X (WIN)? Well, you can still access saturdave's information, though the design will be lost--partially or totally. You might consider upgrading to a newer browser that conforms to Web Standards endorsed by the W3C (the people who gave us what we know today as the Web). For a list of compliant browsers, check out the Web Standards Project's Browser Upgrade page.

For more information on this topic, take a look at the links in the sidebar. Also, all of saturdave's pages are compliant with XHTML and CSS specifications, as well as Section 508 guidelines for accesibility. The links below will take you to the W3C where you can validate these pages, as well as any others you wish to test. If online validation seems a little confusing at first, it is. Drop me a note and I'll share some of my experiences with the validation services to get you started.
